3D printing is wildly popular these days. And everybody has at some point seen or heard about this craze in the media, but most of us have never worked with it. House of Design and the Groninger Museum are about to change that, coming Sunday, 27 October. How does a 3D printer work? How does a drawing get in there? What kind of material does such a machine use to make a print? Can I print my own toys? During the workshop ‘The new making’ children will get answers to these questions.
House of Design: “3D printing is a playful way to introduce new making technology. Children may discover that they are actually quite good at technique, that they are able to think in an abstract way and have spatial insight. Because they are guided by professional designers, they learn how to think in a 3D manner, and that a creative idea is the basis of whatever you want to make. These children are the makers of the future!”
