Mayor Ferd Crone was a guest this morning at a 3D printing workshop in Camminghaburen. He had come to Child Centre De Wielen (elementary school, after school- and daycare). Crone had promised the children to come observe the technological feat close-by and he kept his word.
School director Sietske van der Zijl. “This was wonderful of course. The children had invited the mayor by letter to come and print out a chain of office together with them.”
Unfortunately, the machine, an Ultimaker 2, didn’t function in the beginning. One of the students, whizkid Yoeri, tried to get things fixed, but also he couldn’t get the machine to work.
The students of De Wielen were well prepared however, and had made a beautiful chain of office in another lesson. “He is the first mayor in the Netherlands who has a printed chain of office,” van der Zijl stated decisive.
Ferd Crone was very happy with his present and promised to wear the special chain later that day, during an evening of debate at the City Hall.
