House of Design has thought out and set up a 3D print project in assignment of the province of Friesland. In this project, students between 8 and 13 years old are given the opportunity to work and play with 3D printers, guided by professional designers.

Jauke van den Brink is a professional designer, working together with House of Design in the 3D Comenius project. He starts by showing the children what 3D actually is, during a lesson at school. This lesson is to prepare them for working with the printers and computers. ”A solid base is necessary to be able to achieve something in design, and this also goes for 3D printed objects,” says Jauke van den Brink.

After he has explained how 3D perception works in our brain, the students start on the drawing assignments.” The children are very excited when I tell them that we are going to draw to develop and visualise 3D thinking; they almost give me a standing ovation.” Read more on the website of House of Design
